The Monteferro El Rosal shear zone is characterized by an intense ductile deformation produced during the third phase of the Variscan orogeny. The petrology of the metasediments and the study of the fluid inclusions from synkinematic andalusite‐bearing quartz veins indicate that the major Variscan phase of deformation occurred at around 2. 5–4 kbar and 565 ± 25°C.
