For more than a century, it has been suggested that failure of the secretions of the ductless glands leads to aging. Replacement of these hormones has been suggested as a method of slowing the aging process. The best evidence for hormonal replacement is vitamin D and estrogen replacement to prevent hip fractures. Other than that, treatment should be limited to hormone replacement in persons who have endocrine disease.
