The image and visual analysis of geneograms (family trees) drawn by subjects during the course of experiential seminars is described. Case examples are given which suggest that the visual features of the geneogram may provide useful pointers towards the exploration of relevant individual and family issues. Theoretical issues and the potential for further application of the technique in clinical practice are discussed.
