Most sources of information regarding drugs in pregnancy include information on whether a drug causes congenital anomalies and whether a drug causes changes in fetal function or neonatal adaptation. Therapeutic issues related to the treatment of maternal disease are not readily available. Despite known physiologic changes of pregnancy, drug dosages are widely assumed to be the same as the healthy adult. An informational source is needed which addresses the therapeutic issues of pregnant women. Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics (2008) 83 , 22–23; doi: 10.1038/sj.clpt.6100438
