Numerous reports have documented drug interactions with grapefruit juice (GFJ) that occur via inhibition of CYP3A enzymes. As reported by Glaeser et al . 1 in the March 2007 issue of this journal, there is increasing recognition that GFJ may also affect the activity of influx ( e.g ., OATPs) and efflux ( e.g ., P‐glycoprotein) transporters. This commentary focuses on these interactions between GFJ and drug transporters. Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics (2007) 81 , 631–633. doi: 10.1038/sj.clpt.6100185
