Summary Following a period of treatment with busulphan, mice sustained a prolonged or permanent residual injury to the marrow. This was characterized by a decrease in number of pluripotential stem cells (CFU) and granulocytic progenitor cells (CFC). Eventually, many mice developed frank marrow failure, and when this had occurred the numbers of CFU and CFC were found to be even more markedly depressed.
