Summary Neither monoprecipitin rabbit antiserum against precipitating antigen ‘d’ nor ‘e’ of Leptospira interrogans (serotype biflexa) would agglutinate whole leptospires, even at very low antiserum dilution. By means of antibody fluorescent labelling and anti‐globulin cross‐linking techniques, antigen ‘d’ and ‘e’ were shown to be subsurface in cellular location.
