Summary Immunization of the lizard. Tiliqua rugosa , with Salmonella typhimurium , rat erythrocytes and bovine serum albumin induced a vigorous humoral antibody response, the kinetics and magnitude of which were dependent upon the environmental temperature. Anamnestic responses were observed with two of the three immunogens. Both 19S and 7S antibodies were produced against rat erythrocytes and bovine serum albumin but S. typhimurium induced the formation of only 19S antibodies. The reticuloendothelial system of Tiliqua is relatively well developed and capable of locating exogenous colloidal carbon in the liver and spleen. The spleen showed a definite demarcation into red and white pulp but germinal centres were not noted. A lymph node containing sinuses and follicular aggregation was also identified.
