ENHANCING EFFECT OF DEAE‐DEXTRAN ON INCLUSION COUNTS OF AN OVINE CHLAMYDIA ( BEDSONIA ) IN CELL CULTURE

Summary Pretreatment of HEp2 cells with DEAE‐Dextran increased significantly the number of inclusions formed following inoculation with an ovine agent of the Chlamydia group of micro‐organisms. A fivefold increase occurred when the DEAE‐Dextran was washed off before inoculation with the agent and if the DEAE‐Dextran was poured off without washing a twentyfold increase was obtained.
