Summary A decrease in cellularity of the bone‐marrow has been observed in sheep that consume a cobalt‐deficient diet, whether or not they are supplemented with vitamin B 12 . This abnormality is accompanied by a reduction in white blood cell count and in the rate of erythropoiesis following withdrawal of a large quantity of blood. Parenteral administration of cobalt has no apparent effect on the course of the malady.
