Summary The vitamin B 12 binding capacity of separated plasma protein fractions has been measured at levels ranging from 10–100 ng./ml. of added radioactive vitamin B 12 . An α 1 acid glycoprotein has shown much greater vitamin B 12 binding properties than all other proteins tested; this protein has the same column chromatographic mobility as that protein fraction which binds abnormally large amounts of vitamin B 12 in chronic myeloid leukaemia.
