Summary Inoculation of spleen cells from old NZB mice with a positive Coombs antiglobulin test induced a positive Coombs test in normal young NZB mice after one to three weeks. Inoculation of cell suspensions from lymph nodes, thymus, bone marrow or buffy coat prepared from the same donors failed to induce a positive Coombs test in the recipients. Recipients which became Coombs positive, when examined four weeks after transfer of spleen cells, showed splenic enlargement and histological changes in the spleen and thymus.
