Summary Spleen grafts in mice attained a two to three times larger size under the kidney capsule than in the subcutaneous tissue. As with subcutaneous spleen grafts, grafts under the kidney capsule atained a larger size in splenectomised than in sham‐operated hosts. Erythropoiesis was more active in spleen grafts under the kidney capsule than in subcutaneous grafts, but erythropoiesis in spleen grafts in both sites was as responsive as erythropoiesis in the host's spleen to suppression by hypertransfusion.
