Summary The abnormal haemoglobins E, H and Lepore occur to a limited extent in New Guinea. Specimens of these were compared with their non‐New Guinea counterparts by “fingerprinting”. The haemoglobins E and H were found to be identical with haemoglobins E and H occurring elsewhere. The Lepore haemoglobin was found to be markedly different from a Lepore specimen from an individual of Mediterranean origin, but identical with Lepore HOLLANDIA .
