SUMMARY 14 C‐Iabelled cholesterol suspensions were incubated with rabbit macrophage homogenates either alone or with animal lecithin or synthetic lecithin added. Partial esterification of the 14 C‐labelled cholesterol was brought about by such homogenates. In the presence of either animal lecithin or synthetic lecithin the esterification of the 14 C‐labelled cholesterol brought about by macrophage homogenates was appreciably reduced.
