SUMMARY A microbiological assay for formiminoglutamic acid using Lactobacillus arabinosus as test organism is described. The method can be used to detect formiminoglutamic acid in urine when other growth‐promoting substances such as glutamic acid and glutamine are present. By use of this method, the urinary excretion of formiminoglutamic acid can be regularly detected in folic acid‐deficient rats.
