SUMMARY Blood films of 30 aborigines and 30 Europeans were studied to obtain neutrophil and lymphocyte haemograms. The aborigines had an increased proportion of young cells in both cases. It was held that these results show that the observed leukocytosis is due to increased cell production. This may be due to the greater, long continued “stress” of the aborigines' environment.
