This ‘Have you seen?’ features two recent publications establishing a direct molecular link from metabolic stress to activation of cellular autophagy. The studies from the Shaw‐lab (published in Science) and the Guan‐lab (NCB) report stress‐induced AMPK‐activation that triggers ULK1‐phosphorylation, the mammalian orthologue of the autophagy regulator Atg1.
