Solid‐organ transplantation (SOT) has seen marked improvements in survival and rejection rates, 1 but infection remains a common post‐transplant complication and a major cause of death. 2 This review focuses on the risks of developing infection after SOT, common pathogens encountered in SOT recipients (SOTRs), and management of the infections. Preventive strategies are also discussed. Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics (2011) 90 2, 333–342. doi: 10.1038/clpt.2011.90
