The last, 8th meeting of the Czech Tectonic Studies Group (CTS) was held in Hrubá Skála chateau in Czech Republic and was successfully introduced also as the 1st meeting of the newly established Central European Tectonics Group (CETeG). However, it was organized still in a “traditional” fashion, i.e. Czech, Polish and Slovak speakers presented their contributions in their native languages, though the conference materials have always been published in English. The main objective of the CETeG meetings should be presentation of new research results and exchange of scientific ideas between colleagues in different stages of their scientific careers and from different branches of geosciences, as well as providing an introducing international scientific forum for young scientists and students. Therefore a different policy was adopted for the second and next CETeG meetings. To allow a really international attendance of our meetings and because of Central Europe speaks not only by Slavic languages, it was decided to accept English as the official CETeG conferences language. The positive reaction to this decision is a quite large amount of Hungarian colleagues present at the 2nd CETeG meeting. This will surely enrich our discussions in new results, methods and ideas. Inspired by the proportional attendance of researchers and students from all four Visegrad countries, the organizing committee applied also for a grant from the International Visegrad Fund, which would be utilized mostly for publishing conference materials. CETeG gratefully acknowledges the potential support from the Visegrad Fund.
