The generalized integral transform method employed in part 1 is extended to solve the problem of nonsteady flow to a well in a layered porous medium. Distinction is made between aquifers, with mainly horizontal flow, and aquitards, with vertical flow. Elastic storage is taken into account in both aquifers and aquitards. The number of layers is arbitrary. The formula obtained serves as a theoretical check on an approximate solution to the same problem that was obtained earlier.
