This paper addresses the role of parameter sensitivity analysis for postcalibration studies of conceptual rainfall‐runoff models. Two sensitivity measures, namely, concentricity and interaction, which characterize the shape of the response surface in the neighborhood of the converged point were developed. When used conjunctively, the two measures provide some useful information related to the geometry of the response surface in two‐parameter subspaces. The role of these measures for postestimation purposes is demonstrated in the case of a four‐parameter model using synthetically generated data.
