The nonlinear partial differential equations governing mass and energy transport in a geothermal reservoir are reduced to simpler ordinary differential equations by the use of a similarity variable r t . For the idealization of a constant flow rate line source in a uniform horizontal reservoir the resulting equation can be numerically integrated for either two‐phase, single‐phase, or flashing flow.
