The size of a reservoir for a given draft ratio and reliability is usually obtained by fitting a distribution to the historical flows. Since the parameters of the inflow model are estimates obtained from data, they are subject to sampling errors. These errors are carried on and magnified when one determines the size of the reservoir. The bias and the standard error of the reservoir size are considered. Details are worked out for the case of the gamma input.
