By using the data of Wallis et al. (1974) regarding the distribution of the coefficient of skewness of a sample of size N taken from Pearson type 3, log normal, and Weibull distributions, formulae are proposed for adjusting the average of the estimates to give a better estimation of the skewness of the population.
