Equations defining overland flow over a porous bed under different time‐variable infiltration conditions are presented. Experimental data for nonrainfall events were obtained from a specially constructed laminar model that used horizontal capillary tubes to synthesize the infiltration process. Tests were conducted at different discharges and slopes. The results from these tests were found to be in close agreement with those obtained from numerical solutions of the theoretical hydrodynamic equations.
