In studies of upstream storage for flood control, recorded streamflow sequences are often of insufficient duration for acceptable reservoir design. This is particularly true if reservoir sites on several tributaries are being investigated, because the main stream peak flow may be the product of any one of an infinite array of potential hydrograph shapes on the tributaries. A daily flow generation model to synthesize correlated flood hydrographs on the main stem and tributaries of a large river system has been developed and tested in this investigation.
