This study shows that the Merrimack River basin is a Horton river basin. An amendment to the Scheidegger ordering system is proposed, based on the length of stream source segments. These amended orders can be used to identify incorrectly mapped sources and to identify which junctions in a single Scheidegger order have longer than average sources upstream.
