The hodograph treatment of the drainage problem of uniform vertical fluxes draining to a system of parallel equally spaced cylindrical drains laid in an infinitely deep soil is applied to the case of very small drains. A simple approximate expression allowing the inclusion of the effect of the capillary fringe thickness is derived for the drain radius. Computed results are presented, and these are used in the discussion of experimental results for systems of gappy drains laid in a hydraulic model sand tank.
