The surface current induced by a plane electromagnetic wave on a rough conducting surface and the scattered electromagnetic field are sought as expansions to second order in Wiener‐Hermite functionals of the profile function. The coherent and incoherent cross sections are calculated and compared to results obtained by means of perturbation theory, the Kirchhoff approximation, and Padé approximants.
