A series of experiments intended to examine the flow characteristics of a plasma incident on a localized magnetic dipole field in a low β plasma is described. Both the electron and ion densities are measured upstream and downstream from the magnetic structure, and the results are compared with a nonflowing plasma of the same density. Significant differences are detected which can be attributed to the flowing plasma.
