Existing expressions for the line‐of‐sight plane and spherical wave mutual coherence function are subject to the restriction that the wavelength λ be much smaller than the inner scale of turbulence l o . It is shown that this restriction can be replaced by λ « ρ o , where ρ o is the wave coherence length. For weak, path‐integrated turbulence, l o ∼ 5 mm « ρ o , indicating that existing expressions for the MCF are valid for wavelengths well into the microwave range.
