A VHF‐UHF imaging system for applications to the reconstruction, with a high temporal resolution, of the two‐dimensional spatial structure of lightning has been implemented. The interferometric technique used for obtaining high resolution and low ambiguities is presented, and the influence of source and system parameters on the location accuracy, ambiguity removal, and reconstruction of source structure is discussed.
