Dielectric feeds, consisting of a specially shaped dielectric inserted into a waveguide aperture, can radiate patterns which are circular or elliptical in cross section and provide suitable cross‐polar performance. The patterns have been calculated approximately by applying twice the Kirchhoff‐Huygens principle. Results of theoretical and experimental investigations are presented for several dielectric feeds with good cross‐polarization behavior.
