Union Radio Scientifique Internationale (URSI) Commission F held an open symposium and workshop on the ‘Effects of the Lower Atmosphere on Radio Propagation at Frequencies above 1 GHz’ at Bishop's College in Lennoxville, Quebec, Canada, May 26‐30, 1980. It was one of several scientific symposia organized by Commission F during the interval between the 1978 and the 1981 URSI General Assemblies. The intent of the Lennoxville meeting was to assay recent advances in the experimental investigation and in the modeling of propagation phenomena which affect the design of communication systems operating at frequencies above 1 GHz. The workshop was charged with the preparation of a progress report to Study Group 5 (Propagation in Nonionized Media) of the International Radio Consultative Committee (CCIR).
