A general analysis for obtaining both bistatic and monostatic radar cross sections of conducting bodies over an imperfectly conducting medium is presented. The resulting formulas are in matrix notation. Representative computations are made for the cases of a vertical half‐wave dipole and a horizontal half‐wave dipole situated over a half space of various constitutive parameters.
