Hendricus (Henk) Bremmer, born March 23, 1904, in the Hague, got his doctor's degree as an experimental physicist in 1934 in Leiden, the Netherlands. His thesis dealt with investigations of heat conductivity at low temperatures. This cryogenic work was carried out in the famous Kamerlingh Onnes Laboratories, where he worked as an assistant to Professor de Haas from 1927 to 1934. Eight publications [11–81] , most of them in the Proceedings of the Royal Academy of the Netherlands , on the thermal conductivity of tin, indium, lead‐thallium, mercury, and superconducting alloys, treated this theme.
