A set of transfer functions is outlined which turn out to be suitable for characterizing space‐variant propagation media. The purpose of the paper is to show the possibility of using such functions for predicting the performance of a given antenna looking through an inhomogeneous medium as well as for indicating the type of measurements necessary to characterize the medium.
