The observation of atmospheric radio noise by use of the ARN‐2 recorder has been carried out since June 1967 at Ping‐Cheng. Using the data obtained from June 1967 to December 1972, the diurnal, seasonal, and solar cycle variations of the atmospheric noise power were investigated. The seasonal and solar cycle variations of the diurnal amplitude of the noise levels were also investigated. At 5 MHz, the diurnal amplitude of the noise power as well as the noise power at noon were found to be slightly dependent on the sunspot number. Comparison between the CCIR atmospheric noise predictions for Ping‐Cheng and the present observed results shows some differences.
