The intermittency associated with fine‐scale structure and motion of the atmosphere was a central and significant theme of the papers and discussions of the meeting. The mathematical and physical problems raised by the intermittency of atmospheric phenomena appear to be difficult and complex. Most of the statistical analysis of atmospheric data at the present time is not specifically aimed at the study of intermittency. The major conclusion of the working group is that considerable information about the properties of intermittency could be obtained by suitable analysis of available data; the major recommendation is that this work be started.
