The progress of geodetic control surveys in the United States has been enhanced by the increased use of sophisticated instrumentation during 1975 to 1978. Although this report summarizes only the national and international activities of the several Federal agencies that establish geodetic surveys, significant accomplishments have also been made by state, county, and private organizations. Many of these organizations submit their observational data or adjusted results to the National Ocean Survey (NOS) for adjustment and/or publication in accordance with the detailed instructions provided for such submissions. As a result, more control of acceptable accuracy is being made available to the user.
