Solutions of problems relating to the redefinition of North American geodetic networks have been important research topics of the National Geodetic Survey. Geodetic network adjustments will be accomplished using higher level Helmert blocking. Snay [1976] derived an improved algorithm for reducing the profile of sparse matrices encountered in geodetic adjustments. Snay [1978a] also used logical geometry to analyze the solvability of geodetic networks. An algorithm to compute the eigenvectors of a symmetric matrix was derived by Schmid [1978].
