The planned new solution for the North American Datum has provided an impetus for research into improved techniques of network adjustment. Current state of the art is expounded by Dracup and Gergen [1974]. Refinements in general least squares are discussed by Fubara [1973] and Schmid and Schmid [1971]. Specific methods of adjustment which promise increased efficiency are covered by Zimmerman [1974], Schmid [1971 a , 1973], Saxena [1974], and Pope [1974 b ]. Much work has gone into the problems of generalized inverses and singular matrices [ Bossier , 1973; Uotila , 1974 a ]. A very general and complete presentation on adjustment techniques with a comprehensive bibliography can be found in a paper by Pope [1974 a ]. Also worth noting is a revised English version of the textbook by Hirvonen [1971].
