IO: Could SO 2 condensation/sublimation cause the sometimes reported post‐eclipse brightening?

Io’s sometimes‐reported post eclipse brightening may be caused by SO 2 frost formation during eclipse and sublimation on emergence. The known properties of SO 2 can be used to explain quantitatively the amplitude of brightening and its duration, and (qualitatively) its variability.
