Solar occulation data gathered by the French solar instrument on board the OSO‐8 satellite have been used to determine the ozone number density distribution between about 50 and 70 km. The solar extinction measurements were made near the Mg II h (2803 Å) and Mg II k (2796 Å) solar emission lines. The derived ozone number density profiles at 22° and 38°N latitude during July 1975 are presented and compared with other observations and model predictions.
