Electron microscopy of sedimentary dolomite reveals heterogeneous microstructures on a 100 ‐ 300Å scale which we interpret as compositional modulations. Electron diffraction patterns contain a new type of superstructure reflection which effectively doubles the a axis. These findings suggest the presence of a new phase in low temperature calcian dolomite rocks.
