Profiles for key stratospheric fluorine species are presented along with HF:HCl ratio. Discrepancies between theory and observation are examined and their implications are discussed. Our results indicate that the HF:HCl ratio depends critically on OH concentration between 20‐30 km and it might provide an indirect check on the present stratospheric OH chemistry or H 2 O abundances which are of central importance to stratospheric chemical processes.
