A new abyssal current of magnitude 2.0 ± .3 cm s −1 has been found near 4000 m depth at the western foot of the Bermuda Rise. This estimate is based on about two years of moored current meter data. Preliminary indications are that the current penetrates downward to the ocean bottom, and upward to 1500 m depth with diminished intensity.
