A study of the frequency distribution of geomagnetic activity Ap indices shows that there is a tendency for more of the indices to be even than are odd. We identify the probable source of the bias, i.e., the use of a particular rounding rule in the derivation of the Ap values, and we suggest two methods for eliminating the tendency to even values.
