In anticipation of the caution offered by Dr. Langleben, the Arctic Ice Dynamics Joint Experiment plan to determine air stress from wind speed observations at two levels has been modified. It is suggested that observations by Langleben of wind profiles exhibiting extrema cannot be satisfactorily attributed to non‐stationary flow.
